‘CC for a Cure’ golf tourney raises $2,000 for scholarships and Relay for Life

Like the Lake Campus on Facebook The 2nd Annual CC for a Cure Golf Classic raised $2,000 for the Miller County Relay for Life and the Columbia College-Lake of the Ozarks Phil Davis Scholarship on September 12, 2014! Columbia College provides educational support for ‘Operation Backbone’ veterans

Columbia College of Missouri is proud to announce its support of Operation Backbone, a non-profit organization based in New York that provides crucial brain and spine surgical treatments for active-duty service members and veterans who need an accelerated substitute to their current care options. As part of the program, Columbia College will offer students from Operation Backbone several services including: Financial aid advising including a customized Financial Aid Shopping Sheet with details on grants, awards and scholarships available to services members and veterans. An overview of the total cost of a degree program and furnish an educational plan which will detail the courses needed for degree completion and an anticipated graduation date at no charge. Lake County campus celebrates 40th anniversary

Columbia College of Missouri-Lake County recently celebrated its 40th anniversary of serving Gurnee and the surrounding region’s educational needs. The event was attended by more than 70 students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the college and was held at the campus in Gurnee. Columbia College president Dr. Scott Dalrymple, and his wife, Dr. Tina Dalrymple, greeted guests, with Dalrymple providing remarks during the event. “Tina and I are honored to be here for this great occasion as we celebrate 40 years of the Lake County campus offering access to quality higher education to our students in the Great Lakes region,” Dr. Scott Dalrymple said. “Columbia College is proud to be one of the true pioneers in education delivery methods and we will continue to look at different ways to provide these opportunities to our students in the future.” The event also featured reflections from faculty member Jane Pickens, who has served the Lake County campus for 20 years. Alumna Melinda Meyers ’14, recent inductee into the Sigma Beta Delta honor society, also provided remarks. “I love teaching here.” Pickens said. “I wouldn’t have stayed here if I didn’t. Our students are different and are professionals. I often learn as much from them as they do from me.
