More than 30 years ago, Cornellia Williams ’97 & ‘05 was a single mom and recent high-school dropout living in public housing with two children. After knowing first-hand how having a mentor can change your life, she now is the same for others in Columbia.
It’s an annual tradition on the Columbia College main campus, this raising of the United States and Columbia College flags on the Friday before Veteran’s Day. The scene, brightened by a fresh blanket of snow on Bass Commons from the night before, is a familiar one for Landon Miller ’18, who served on the color guard for last Friday’s ceremony.
