Speaker at Business Conference and Presentation.Columbia College will host an information session to learn more about LaunchCode, a St. Louis non-profit dedicated to helping people achieve careers in technology. LaunchCode, devised by Square co-founder Jim McKelvey, specializes in tech apprenticeships and job placements, and is looking at potentially expanding its operations to Columbia.

This is an exciting development for Columbia’s burgeoning startup scene. Kip Kendrick, state representative, 45th District and organizer of the information session, is eager for the local business community to learn about what LaunchCode does.

“LaunchCode’s success not only benefits individuals being placed, but also the businesses that have difficulty filling necessary coding positions,” says Kendrick. “One thing is certain as our world continues its shift toward a global economy: we must work together to put Missouri in a position to thrive. LaunchCode is part of the solution.”

The information session will take place Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in Bixby Lecture Hall (located in the Brouder Science Center). Parking is available in the Wightman Parking Lot. This event is free and open to the public.
