More than 300 students from across the state recently traveled to Jefferson City to attend International Education Day. The event, hosted by the Study Missouri Consortium, gave students a chance to network and learn about Missouri’s legislative process.
The event also provided students a chance to learn about how to leverage their study aboard experience in the job search process. Dan Gomez-Palacio, director of Career Services at Columbia College, spoke to the students about the impact studying abroad and international education can have on one’s career.
“Employers sometimes don’t recognize the value of a study abroad experience; it can be a life changing event, but it’s hard to know how it affects your career,” says Gomez-Palacio. “I talked about how candidates can bring (international education) up on both a resume and in an interview.”
