Jane Froman birthday concertTo celebrate the 108th birthday of one of Columbia College’s most renowned alumna, the Jane Froman Singers will perform two concerts Nov. 10.

The annual Jane Froman Birthday Concert will be held in Dorsey Chapel at 11:15 a.m., and the Jane Froman Cabaret will be that evening in Practice Hall at 7:30 p.m. The first concert is free, and tickets for the cabaret are $10 and limited to 75 seats. All ticket proceeds will benefit the Jane Froman Scholarship Fund awarded to outstanding music students.

The timeless beauty and talent of the 1926 graduate of Christian College made Froman a star of the radio, stage and screen from the 1930s through the 1950s. The 1953 20th Century Fox film “A Song in My Heart” starring Susan Hayward paid tribute to Froman’s incredible life story. And, as the movie depicts, she showed courage and fortitude in the face of debilitating injuries suffered in a 1943 plane crash en route to a USO tour but didn’t let the accident keep her from the stage.

Come celebrate the life of this remarkable Columbia College alumna and support the Jane Froman Singers who continue her legacy.
