Columbia College President Scott Dalrymple recently announced the promotion of Dr. Nathan Miller from senior director for Student Success and Financial Aid to associate vice president of Adult Higher Education (AHE), the division of the college that supports its more than 30 locations around the country.
In this new role, Miller will help enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the AHE administration by assisting with the daily operational oversight of the division. He will collaborate with departments such as Enrollment and Marketing, Advancement and Academic Affairs while supporting Dr. Jeff Musgrove, vice president of AHE, in establishing and achieving the division’s goals.
“Dr. Miller has played a vital role in our student retention and financial aid efforts while assisting students at our locations around the country,” said Dalrymple. “His commitment to Columbia College and its mission is solid, and I look forward to watching him grow in this position.”
Miller joined the college in May 2008 as a course review specialist for the Online Education program. Since August 2014, he has served as director, then senior director, of Student Success. For the past year, Miller has had the additional responsibility of serving as senior director for Financial Aid in the Enrollment and Marketing division. In this role, he has worked to improve college retention rates, the cohort default rate and financial aid processing.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to join Dr. Musgrove and his team in the Adult Higher Education division,” Miller said. “Helping students achieve their goals has been my focus since I’ve joined the college. This new position allows me to continue this work with a focus on the students served through the college’s nationwide program.”
In 2013, Miller earned his Ph.D. in in Education with a specialization in educational leadership and higher education from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He also earned two masters and a bachelor’s degree in various music emphases from the University of Missouri.
Miller is the chair of the Association for Continuing Higher Education for the Great Plains region and is also a member of the University and Professional Continuing Education Association. He is also a member of the Heart of Missouri United Way board of directors.
