Melissa Montgomery, Columbia College senior director of Philanthropy, has been named the 2018 Outstanding Fundraising Professional by the Central Missouri chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Montgomery, a 2006 alumna of Columbia College, will be presented with the award at the chapter’s luncheon celebrating National Philanthropy Day on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Country Club of Missouri.
Montgomery has been a member of the Columbia College advancement team since 2004, and has served in her current role since February, 2018. She earned Charter Advisor in Philanthropy status in May, 2014. She was also named a Certified Fund Raising Executive through the CFRE International organization, which recognizes experienced fundraising professionals aspiring to the highest standards of ethics, competence and service to the philanthropic sector, a key component in consideration for the Outstanding Fundraising Professional award selection.
“Melissa is a leader in the field, and this year, she not only celebrated her 10th anniversary as a fundraiser, she also helped the college achieve the best fundraising results in our 167 year history,” said Suzanne Rothwell, executive director of Advancement. “She has a great affinity for Columbia College, our alumni and our donors. She is professional, loyal and dedicated and is very deserving of this honor.”
This award recognizes a professional with more than 10 years of experience in the field of fundraising who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment, dedication and talent toward promoting and support of philanthropy in the community.
“AFP of Central Missouri is thrilled to honor Missy as our Outstanding Professional Fundraiser for 2018. She is a positive force in the nonprofit sector and we can’t wait to recognize her at the National Philanthropy Day celebration,” said Kari Hopkins, marketing/PR director of Coyote Hill Christian Children’s Home and the current AFP of Central Missouri president.
