In my ninth-grade World History class, philosopher George Santayana’s quote “Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it” was posted immediately above my head. Unfortunately, I never looked up. When this quote was referenced in an exam question, I was ‘clueless’ and confidently marked this statement FALSE! The ‘silver-lining’ from my faux pas is that I have never forgotten this quotation, and I always remember to look up.
