The Midwest’s premiere gaming event is back and better than ever. The third annual iBuyPower Midwest Campus Clash and Gaming Expo powered by Columbia College, is set for April 6 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The battle for gaming supremacy, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Southwell Athletic Complex with activities for all skill levels and ages. The college is partnering with iBuyPower for the first time as a Gold sponsor for the event.
“The Clash continues to evolve and grow every year and this latest edition promises to be the most engaging and entertaining yet,” said Columbia College President Scott Dalrymple. “This is a tremendous opportunity to host members of the region’s gaming community here on campus and we are looking to build on the success of the last two years.”
The 2019 Clash will once again feature one of the preeminent League of Legends tournaments in the country with a $25,000 prize pool up for grabs. The tournament will welcome seven of the top teams in the country, five of which are ranked or receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com Collegiate League of Legends Top 25.
This year’s slate includes: No. 3 Columbia College, No. 2 Maryville University, No. 4 Harrisburg University, No. 14 Robert Morris, Grand View University (RV), University of Colorado and the University of Missouri. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with matches starting immediately. Professional “Shoutcasters” Joshua “Pheqes” Quest, Kyle “Corvus” Crowe and Stephen “Returned” Johnson will call the action live in the arena. The bracket for the tournament will be announced in the near future, so stay tuned!
A new and exciting feature of the 2019 Clash will be a free Fortnite tournament, presented in partnership with Ukatsu. The battle royal for gaming greatness is open to all ages and with the first wave starting at 11:00 a.m. Registration is required for the tournament and will open on April 1 at midwestcampusclash.com.
In addition to the League of Legends and Fortnite tournaments, the Expo area will include the Midwest’s largest mobile arcade with gaming experiences for all ages including this year’s vintage game, Gargantuan Galaga. Attendees can also check out the latest offerings from iBuyPower, Alienware, Slackers, Socket, US Cellular, Division D and more.
