A New Look Awaits the Re-opening at Redstone

By John Adams, director, Columbia College-Redstone Arsenal

John AdamsThe Army Education Center at Toftoy Hall on Redstone Arsenal enjoys an annual training throughput of more than 55,000 DoD and civilian personnel. That includes the four colleges and universities that are co-located at the facility to offer evening and weekend courses to the DoD, military and civilian population associated within and around the Arsenal.

Although the Education Center is temporarily closed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, those attending future training at the facility will see a fresh look outside the office of the Columbia College with the addition of a new multi-media information kiosk. This interactive kiosk will display current Columbia College news and scheduled events, and help keep the facility’s “student population” aware of upcoming events around the Arsenal. With a connection to local television channels, it also serves as an emergency weather information source in the event of severe weather conditions in the Tennessee Valley area.

The removable sign placards will be changed periodically, but will remain on the central theme of the Kiosk: “Columbia College is Your Future.”
