By Andrew Reeves, director, Columbia College Region C4 and Evening Program
To say the last year has been a challenge would be an understatement. We have never seen a time quite like what we are currently experiencing-uncertainty, fear, and future unknowns. It would have been easy for us to sit back and let the pandemic and fear overcome us. Columbia College and our students took a different route, however, as we decided to take on the pandemic head on.
Whether it was switching to hosting all of our classes virtually at the start of the pandemic, adding a special summer session to accommodate lab courses, or continuing to innovate with course delivery methods to ensure safety, we persevered.
The ingenuity I saw from staff, faculty, and especially students was something I will always remember and think fondly of during a time that saw a lot of doubt and uncertainty. We should all be proud of our students, faculty, and staff success while facing a pandemic unlike we have ever seen before.
As we move on to the next academic year please know that Columbia College will continue to innovate and ensure we uphold our academic quality no matter what the future brings. Whether taking classes virtually, in a classroom, or a combination of both, Columbia College will continue to preserver and ensure our students continue to graduate with a high quality degree. Here is to the future and we in the Evening Program look forward to being a part of it. Also, don’t forget to read the rest of the articles in this month’s newsletter in the column on the right!
