By Sarah Goeke, director, Columbia College of Missouri-Freeport

Spring has finally sprung and with all the change that has occurred over the past year I’ve found it a good time to reflect and celebrate some of the positive reworkings we’ve embarked on over the past year.

During these changing times, our course offerings have grown in ways they would not have otherwise. For example, Columbia College’s Nationwide Locations have further embraced technology by bringing live lecture classroom experiences to all students through the use of Zoom. This expanded learning modality provides yet an additional format to make course content more accessible to all types of learners. These live zoom lectures promote greater scheduling flexibility for students as they can be attended from a location most convenient to the student.

Additionally, we have found new ways to partner with our host Highland Community College. This expanded partnership will offer a larger tuition discount to future Columbia College students and staff from Highland Community College. This expansion on our already strong partnership will enable us to continue to serve the communities that make up the Highland Community College District and beyond! As we move forward together let us remember this quote from Socrates: “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Also, don’t forget to read the rest of the articles in this month’s newsletter in the column on the right!
