Letter from the Editor

In the 50 years since transitioning to a four-year co-ed program, Columbia College continues to evolve in the ever-changing landscape of higher education. Affinity magazine celebrates the progress that continues to guide us forward.

As we were planning this issue, we received a photo from a graduating senior and instantly knew we had our cover. Abigail Schneider ’21 celebrated the completion of her bachelor’s degree in a big way — decked out in her cap and gown on a white-water rafting adventure in Camp Verde, Arizona. Two weeks later, the Online Program graduate returned home to Columbia, Missouri, to walk with her classmates. “It was the best of both worlds really,” she says.

In June, the college hosted a promotion ceremony for Byron Wilson ’07 as he received the rank of Air Force Captain, and we capped off the month with a virtual awards presentation to honor four alumni awards recipients. It is our pleasure to introduce you to Victor Ciardelli ’89, Pat Hagenbuch ’62, Virginia Zimmerley Stewart ’76 and Donna Osborne Bradley ’11.
