While going to college and getting a degree certainly has its share of challenges, paying for college can sometimes be the most difficult part of the entire journey. There are numerous paths to uncover financial aid to support your education, and I wanted to take a moment to cover some of the more common ones that are available to Columbia College-Rolla students.

Virtually anyone who has gone or even considered going to college is familiar with FAFSA – the most common method to qualify for Pell Grants and federal loans that help cover the cost of higher education.

However, completing the FAFSA can be tedious and sometimes confusing. Need help? Give us a call at 573-341-3350 and schedule a FAFSA appointment with our advisors. We can help you complete your forms and get you one step closer to paying for your education.

Where do you work? Columbia College has partnerships with over 1,600 employers across the United States. If you work for any of these 1,600 employers, you are entitled to a 15% discount on your tuition. Visit our partnerships page and click “View All Partners” to find out if your workplace is on the list. You may be surprised to discover a new benefit!

Columbia College recently became an eligible institution for FastTrack, a state financial aid program designed to help adult learners. If an individual qualifies for FastTrack, they can receive education grants that do not need to be repaid if the student meets the program’s requirements related to enrollment, GPA, Missouri residency, and achieving qualifying employment in Missouri within 12 months of graduation.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a program that provides education access – among many services – for individuals studying specific degree programs. Our Columbia College-Rolla location has over a dozen degree offerings that are supported by WIOA. For more information on whether or not you qualify, and how much support you may be entitled to, schedule an appointment with the Rolla Job Center located at 1107 Kingshighway. You can reach the Center at (573) 368-2354.

We also have several students who are supported by the state of Missouri’s Vocational Rehabilitation program. The program offers a massive range of services to individuals who have a mental or physical impairment that causes difficulties with working. Providing financial aid for education is among the many services they offer. The Voc Rehab office in our area is located at 1101 Kingshighway in Rolla. For more information, give them a call at (573) 368-2266.

I hope that at least one of these money-saving opportunities is a good fit for you or someone you know. Please stop by or give us a call if you ever have any questions for us! Hope to see you this fall.
