Each fall, Columbia College-Freeport issues a scholarship to one of our students. Faculty convene and determine which of the candidates best meet the scholarship criteria and fulfills Columbia College’s mission of providing a high-quality, affordable education and lifelong learning in order to pursue excellence in human endeavor.
About the Scholarship
Through generous gifts from alumni, friends, staff, and adjunct faculty of Columbia College-Freeport, the campus is able to grant an $833 scholarship to a current student. Established in 2002, the scholarship is designed to award high quality students with demonstrated financial need.
This year’s Freeport Location Scholar is Alicia Kepner!
Alicia is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree to further her current career at Highland Community College in the Department of Nursing. Alicia loves teaching and wants to be the best teacher she can. Alicia enjoys working in health care as she has a passion for taking care of others. She finds guiding students and working with the community to be the most fulfilling parts of her work. This is why she has chosen a degree in general studies so that she can take classes in the fields of social services, education, and psychology that will best serve her in her current role.
