Columbia College was recently rated a top online military-friendly institution by OnlineU, a leading higher education researcher and publisher whose mission is to help students accomplish their goals by finding online degree programs with the best value.
The college was among 2% of institutions nationwide to receive the honor out of more than 2,600 schools that were evaluated for their commitment to military-affiliated students.
The institution was also ranked in the top 10 by OnlineU for most affordable military-friendly schools.
“We truly consider it a privilege to provide quality, flexible and affordable higher education to thousands of military-affiliated students and their families each year,” says Columbia College President Dr. David Russell, a retired Army lieutenant colonel. “Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for students from all over the world who deepen their education through our robust Online Program.”

CC celebrated 50 years of its partnership with the U.S. military in 2023 and has more than 20,000 military-affiliated alumni. The college serves current service members, veterans and military families online and at more than 20 locations nationwide, 14 of which are on military installations.
In being selected by OnlineU, the institution was recognized for granting credit hours for previous military experience; enrolling more than 2,100 students with GI Bill benefits; maintaining a fresh online presence related to educational opportunities for veterans and service members; and providing specialized support services through the Ousley Family Veterans Service Center.
“Columbia College is steadfast in its commitment to serve those who have served our country,” says Rob Boone, associate vice president for Columbia College Global-Military and a retired Army lieutenant colonel. “We are proud to come alongside our nation’s heroes as they improve their lives through education and continue to positively impact their communities.”
Earlier this year, CC expanded its popular Military Affiliated Benefit program. Last year, it became the first higher education institution to receive a commendation from the Silver Star Families of America. The college is also a Purple Heart Institution, which honors its commitment to all those in uniform.
CC was previously recognized as the No. 4 most military-friendly college in the country for 2024-25 by MilitaryFriendly.com.
Thank you so much for the support of the military over the years. I received a BA and really helped my career during my 21 years of military service. I would like to work towards a MA. This is just to keep my mind active as I am in my eighties and would not use this for any employment. Request your suggestions. Thanks
