Columbia College President Dr. David Russell announced today the promotion of Allen Schelp to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective June 2, 2025. Schelp has served as interim CFO since January while maintaining his role as Controller for the institution.
Schelp has played a pivotal role in streamlining operations and enhancing the College’s financial reporting systems. In his new post, he will oversee all aspects of the College’s financial operations, including budgeting, financial planning and strategic resource management.
“Allen has demonstrated outstanding dedication to fiscal responsibility and innovation during his 13 years at Columbia College,” said Russell. “His relevant experience and strong understanding of higher education make him the ideal person to help guide the College’s financial strategy into the future. We are pleased to promote him to our senior leadership team.”
Schelp carries more than 37 years of experience in finance and accounting. Prior to working at CC, he served in various positions at a local accounting firm; the Missouri State Auditor’s Office; and the former Trans World Airlines. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
“I am honored to step into this new role at Columbia College, and I appreciate Dr. Russell’s support and confidence in my abilities,” said Schelp. “I am fortunate to work with our dedicated team and look forward to helping ensure a strong and sustainable future for the College.”
