Story by Amber Winkler, Columbia Missourian

One semester apart was all Madeleine and Hannah Shylanski needed to know they wanted to play soccer together again. Both women play on the Columbia College soccer team now, but there was a short time that they were on different teams.

Senior midfielders Madeleine and Hannah have often shared the field with each other. As the season progresses, they are approaching their final time doing so as Cougars. The duo is making the most of it. They were tied for second in goals among CC players entering the Cougars’ match on Wednesday, Oct. 1. This time together almost never happened.

Originally, Madeleine was planning to be done with soccer after her senior year of high school. She had a roommate set up and was set to attend Mizzou. But just one moment on the soccer field during their senior years changed her entire direction.
