The first cohort of African American students to attend CC in the 1970s formed a choral group called Children of God. Several members returned to campus on Friday for an alumni reunion and a special presentation.
Another staple of Homecoming is the annual Office Decoration contest. The college's location in Jefferson City won third place, there was a tie for second between Student Affairs and the Robert W. Plaster School Of Business, and the staff at TRiO Student Support Services won this year's contest!
The inaugural Homecoming Festival put all Cougars into the Homecoming spirit with live music, food trucks, games, giveaways and the annual shopping-cart parade.
Friday evening, the college was honored to induct four individuals and one team into the Columbia College Athletics Hall of Fame. This year's event highlighted Lindsey (Martin) Andrews '14 – Cross Country/Track & Field; Stacy Batson '92 – Men's Basketball; Endrinha Sosa '05 – Women's Volleyball; Vesna (Trivunovic) Johnson '13 – Women's Volleyball; and the 2001-02 Women's Basketball Team.
Congratulations to members of the Homecoming Court: Kaylee Hance (Social Sciences Club), Zyeon Oatts (Student Government Association), Kristen Sibley (International Club), Olivia Zacharias (TEACH Club), and the 2021 Homecoming Royalty, Emma Chedwick (Honors Student Association) and Silvey (Student Government Association).
Homecoming Saturday at CC featured live music, art and decoration, tours of campus, soccer matches at R. Marvin Owens Stadium, and a volleyball match inside Southwell Arena.
The annual Fall Formal dance, held at the Columbia Country Club, is one of our most beloved student traditions.
