College announces 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Awards

Members of the Columbia College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Committee are proud to honor the 2022 recipients of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Awards. The awards were created in 2019 to celebrate and acknowledge staff, faculty, and CC community members who reflect Dr. King’s ideals of equity, faith, nonviolence, education, love, leadership, selflessness and hope.

Saturday’s commencement one for all ages

Columbia College’s commencement speaker was a traditional student who grew up just miles from Main Campus. One couple traveled from South Carolina to receive master’s and bachelor’s degrees. A future nurse persevered through a period of homelessness, another followed in her daughter’s footsteps, and a former sailor overcame the loss of a half-dozen of his shipmates.

College employees present leadership gift to United Way

Columbia College staff and faculty once again joined together in support of the community they call home. With a growing need for assistance amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the college set out to raise $10,000 to support 29 local nonprofit organizations that are partners with the Heart of Missouri United Way.
