When C. Byron Wilson learned of his promotion to the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force, he knew where he wanted to have the ceremony. Wilson chose to go back to his roots at Columbia College, his alma mater.
Columbia College’s annual Military Recognition Day triumphantly returned on Thursday, May 27, following a one-year layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the traditional in-person ceremony held inside Bixby Lecture Hall couldn’t occur this year, the 13th annual Military Recognition Day was still celebrated across the country virtually. Viewers were able to tune in via livestream on Columbia College’s official website and on Facebook Live.
Transitioning from active military service to civilian life can be a daunting task. Luckily for the CC community, nearly 18,000 alumni have served in the military or are dependents of service members and provide a valuable network of individuals who share this unique perspective to the workforce.
