Patrick Stitt ‘17 followed a family tradition when he joined the Navy after high school. His uncles had served in the Vietnam War, and he hoped to follow in their footsteps. “I always knew I wanted to serve my country,” he says. “I just didn’t know exactly how at that point.”

Imagine this: Women attending Columbia College in the 1920s were just given the freedom to go unsupervised to approved places in town, but only if they were wearing a hat! Dean of Student Affairs Faye Burchard shared this interesting Columbia College fact to give attendees a very personal and unique glimpse into the time period as she began the ceremony for the 2015-2016 Night of Recognition, an event that congratulates involved students, staff and faculty on campus.
